A friend of mine is taking a short break away from home tomorrow, and this involves making a 60-mile car journey. By chance, I saw her this afternoon and wished her a safe journey. She's not used to car maintenance - she's only been driving for a couple of years - and so I asked her if she'd checked the oil, water and tyres. Her blank response told me she had not.
I offered to check the car out and straight away noticed the front offside tyre was completely flat. And so, off we went to the nearest petrol station to pump it up, and check the other three tyres at the same time.
I explained that it would either be a slow puncture or a fast puncture and that she would only know that by checking the tyre again tomorrow (Friday) morning.
Something tells me we'll be changing a tyre first thing in the morning and trundling off to the nearest tyre depot.

Yes, I was right, by morning the tyre pressure had dropped from 32 psi to 26 psi. My friend's car now has a new tyre.
