Due a boundary change, my local Tory MP is Iain Dungeon Smith. I will relish not voting for him.

Apparently things are changing again. If Labour will be a safe seat again I might vote Lib Dem or Green. If not then .. I have to vote Labour.

So many people are saying Labour will win massively and the Tories will be wiped out that a lot of people will vote for whom they really want instead of against whom they don't want. Whitehaven and Workington is so safe as a Labour seat, many safe Labour constituencies would be envious.

If Labour really IS safe then I might go for Lib Dem or Green - am reading about all the candidates. But I would feel really crap if I voted for someone else and then the Tories DID get in. Polls are not always accurate... we've all had reason to learn that in the last few years.

Ew, I am not pleased by how Reform is predicted to do (other than that it is taking Tory votes so ... yeah). We got a leaflet from them and, as I read ALL leaflets no matter what I did study it. ALL it was about was immigration .. close the borders, send everyone packing and so forth.

This website says what to do if you're too late to post your vote: applying for postal voteI can't find anywhere that says when the last day is for delivering a postal vote.

BBC News tonight has been plugging the polls, trying to convince party leaders and the general public that Labour really are going to win by a landslide and that the Tories are going to lose miserably. This can only result in many more people voting Green or Lib Dem. The BBC argued on the News that they needed to do that because Labour are acting as though it isn't a forgone conclusion. But Labour know only too well that if people believe it's a forgone conclusion, they won't win so many votes. So they are keeping quiet about it.

Mine is here now is yours? Nope. But I emailed the council elections team and they said they issue me a new set of papers which I could collect. I have a nasty cold though so I'm not really keen on leaving the house on such an expedition. Still hoping it will arrive in this morning's post. If we get post at all.

It wouldn't have been difficult for the council to have delivered the postal votes a few days early.

They said mine was posted on 19th June, so unless the problem is between the council person who puts in the "outgoing mail" box and the council person who actually puts it in the postbox, I suspect the problem was with Royal Mail.
