I have started to hear voices in my head. About ten days ago, I attended a group meeting of church friends who were having an animated discussion. There was a babble of sounds and I was unable to concentrate on any of the individual conversations (the so-called cocktail party effect). And then, all of a sudden, a female voice spoke very clearly, "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that last bit." I looked around and no one else appeared to hear the voice. It was rather spooky. And then, yesterday, I was asking Pat, "how can a DNA test reveal that a man has an older sister?" (A recent BBC article had mentioned a 79-year-old whose DNA test had revealed that he had an elder sister, see article).) Again, the same voice interrupted Pat's reply with a detailed explanation of how this might have happened. The explanation was rather lengthy but fortunately, I managed to stop it by switching off Bluetooth to my hearing aid.

When the voices in your head start answering questions you've only thought, not spoken out loud, that's when you should start to worry.

Your post reminds me of a problem my sister-in-law had with the "find my phone" feature - it makes the misplaced phone ring ... unfortunately, the ringing was in her hearing aids via Bluetooth. And thus not a lot of use in finding her phone.

Well, I guess it's great that at least your voices answer questions seriously rather than telling you to do scary things.

Well, I guess it's great that at least your voices answer questions seriously rather than telling you to do scary things. It was an AI-generated piece of text that a different AI read out aloud but unfortunately, it appeared not to have answered the question.
