My sister finally brought her cat to me, as she has been threatening to do for months. Adult. Female. Black.
New Cat and Old Cat loathe each other on sight #awkward

They'll get used to each other eventually. Congratulations though!
What is the name?

Molly She's currently perched on top of the highest kitchen cupboard, snarling at any other living thing who tries to get near. I've put some food in a bowl on the floor and am gonna leave her alone for a bit to get used to things

Heh I just went to try and stroke her and she attempted to bite me. I've left her to it. She's not a bad natured cat - she's normally sweet and friendly - but she's obviously scared and disorientated. She's got food, water and litter in there so I'll just keep the door shut so pip can't get in

I did not name her I contemplated changing her name but she'd probably get confused

I assume the kitchen window is closed, too. She was very good-natured when we met her round Helen's house. I actually think it would have been good for the kids to have had her as a pet, but there's no accounting for some people.

I think Helen just doesn't like cats. The kitchen window was actually a little open tho not open enough for a cat to get through. I've closed it tight though just in case. She's still on top of the cupboard so I took her a treat stick and left her to it.

I hope she can actually get down. I remember Pip hiding up there at first when i acquired him and winding up stuck and i had to get the stepladder out to rescue him

Sounds like it could be a stepladder and gauntlets job!

Oh God. How will I know if she can't get down? Everytime I go to look she just glares at me

Give her the rest of the day. If you fuss with her, it'll only freak her out more.

I popped a couple of treat sticks up there with her but she's not touched them

She's probably made a tactical retreat. Once her tummy starts to rumble, she will consider her option further. She needs to know she is safe first.

I am just worried she might be stuck .. it's really quite high. If she can get down and just isn't then fair enough but if she wants to but can't ...

I am just worried she might be stuck .. She will get down. How many dead cats do you see on top of cupboards?

And if she is really stuck, you'll see her trying to get down. I agree though, stuck on top of a cupboard is unlikely. She's not a baby.

How old is she?

Post by Moose on Apr 28, 2013 21:55:42 GMT
dunno. Helen reckons four or five tho she has only had her six months ago and had her dumped on her by a colleague. I suspect she might be older, she has a few grey hairs

Congrats! I'm sure she'll warm to you once she settles in, and also realizes where the dinner comes from.
