I've been a bit absent from here lately so I missed this news. I'm so sorry you've been going through this difficult journey, Alan. I really hope you are on the mend now, with patience, care and lots of love and support from people close and not so close by. (((Alan)))

Well they let me out again, this time for two nights. The first thing I did when I got home ( after feeding the cats ) was to climb into a suit, grab my Masonic handbag, head round to my brother's house, pick him up and the senior police officer of Ilkeston constabulary and head north to Chesterfield. During the meeting, amongst the usual business, like drinking the blood of virgins etc., I was elected the next Worshipful Master for the next year. As the members of the Lodge are all aware that I was on overnight release from the loony bin it was very touching. Today I have been into work to give them a "heads up" and have a natter with my colleagues. Then I went home and set to work on my back bedroom. My darling granddaughter is going to be staying with me twice a week, to enable her to study I'm peace and quiet. I'm really pleased with the way it looks. Tomorrow I'll cook a meal in the afternoon and head back to the funny farm. Provided there are no problems this weekend I am to be released on Monday afternoon.

Sounds good!
How are you feeling? Will you show no problems when you're back in?
Don't mention that there was a marmot calling you by name.

I'm not going to say a thing, I will especially not mention the voices telling me to kill Simon Cowell

Well honestly, *I* hear voices telling me to kill Simon Cowell but I've never had myself committed for it .. In other news you sounded so much better earlier

Most excellent news all the way 'round!
Do they issue you a tinfoil hat upon release? I'm assuming this will be a release into the wild, but inquiring minds will want to know if you'll be tagged and, if so, whether its an anklet or an ear tag. I certainly don't think it'll be one of those full neck jobs with the extension aerial. I think technology has advanced beyond that...but your local loony bin may be strapped and scraping by with old technology.
I think you'll find that there may be occasional days when it's just not worth chewing through the strap. Worry not, it is merely existential angst. It will recede to tolerable levels, usually.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm cracking a bottle of champagne in Alan's honour. Here's to liberty!

In other news you sounded so much better earlier I have thought about this and I don't blame Simon Cowell as much as the people who give him money and support him with his pumped-out drivel! Good to hear about Alan though.

That's good news, Alan. And cool about the Worhsipful thingy... do you get a very silly costume? Or do you have to learn an even more secreter handshake?

I do get to wear an even more silly thingy for sure. Don't know about any more silly handshakes, that's not revealed ( if there are any ) until my installation. I hope not, the Mark Master Mason one is complicated enough. Nobody ever uses it BTW.

We all want to know what the secret handshake is if and when it occurs.

Not much of a secret if you tell everyone.

But if nobody knows at all, than it's not a secret either is it? A secret is shared between at least two I think.

So...what's the deal with the rolled up trousers? Couldn't they just tuck them into the tops of the Wellies?

me either *sighs*. I thought it was John Cleese but maybe not

Well, I thought it was Monty Python, which is John Cleese et al. The thing is, Monty Python satirizes the cultural icons, so I'm curious as to what it is that is being mocked with the rolled up trousers.
Maybe the answer cannot be provided absent the other aspects, the long sleeved white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, multicolored sleeveless sweatervest, the braces worn over all, the rubber Wellies, doo-rag, cropped moustache, and troglodytic stance with dangling arms....??
UKkie hayseed, or otherwise backcountry bumpkin? Culturally stunted?

I don't think the Gumbys were satirizing any real people in particular, they just were the Gumbys.
