Hm, viruses can do that.
ETA: Top of a new page, so everyone who's interested will go back a page to see what viruses can do. But people who are not interested in viruses will decide they already know what viruses can do.

944 208 I have had a cold without actually having a cold. Tiredness and headaches but not much actual sneezing or coughing. Viruses can do that.

I've just travelled back from Stockport by bus and found an empty wallet on one of the seats. Empty, that it is, except for a travel pass. I rang the travel pass office and asked them to pass on a message to the person concerned, that I'd found his wallet. It's not much of a crumb of comfort but the wallet is a good one and a replacement travel pass costs (I think) £10.
ETA: The travel pass office rang the person and he contacted me this morning. He's coming to Marple sometime this weekend to collect his wallet and travel pass.

944 205 I have a new career playing sardines in a can every morning on the way to work. I just love budget cuts on public transport...

And in a country so tiny! You may as well have public transport going all the time.

Overcrowded public transport is no fun. Nor are overcrowded roads full of private and commercial transport.

944 200 Overcrowded public transport is no fun. ... unless you're a 13-year-old boy visiting London for the first time and being squashed breathtakingly on the London underground in the rush hour... as I was My cold is getting worse

I have the joy of getting on at the worst train station in Melbourne. Sometimes you can't even get on, but most of the time you're so squished that by the time you get off three stops later, you're dripping with sweat and not in a zen mood.

944 197 That sucks. I know they have to make a profit, but the overcrowded trains are really off putting. Unfortunately perhaps, most public transport users are very dedicated to using public transport for various reasons, making passenger comfort less of an issue for the companies.

The train company would make more money by transporting more people but it can't right now due to level crossings and all trains going into the city loop.

2025 is when the metro tunnel project should help alleviate it to some degree.

Happy November!
There was a big brouhaha last night because the mayor of our city postponed Halloween until tonight. She said the weather conditions were going to be too dangerous, with high winds and heavy rain. There was less rain than expected and not much wind, so some people went out last night anyway. We'll see how many go out (again) tonight!

A police state! Imposing a curfew on children!
Although being Canada, I expect it was more "if you don't mind, sorry ..."

Actually, people were pretty irate.
It's quite windy out there now --I was almost blown off my feet crossing the road. But it's supposed to ease up this afternoon, so the kids that are doing Halloween tonight should be fine.

I used to own the domain ogley.eu but that has now been taken away from me (as of 31 October) because the registration authorities thought we would be leaving the EU by the end of October. Well, Johnson said categorically that we would be. I stored all my web images, audio files and videos on ogley.eu and so I've had to transfer them to a new website, ogley.com. It's identical to the old website but any links to ogley.eu, for example my avatar, have to be changed to ogley.com.

944 181 Just like the Brexit, yes. Presumably ogley.eu is now dead in a ditch? It is indeed. I am not allowed to claim the domain name from an EU registrar unless I live in the EU (which I will do until the end of January but probably not after that).
