Pat is pressing random buttons on her new phone (her first smart phone) and emitting "ooh" and "ah" repeatedly in surprise.

Cute!
How did she last so long without a smart phone?!

940 748 I don't know. I predicted that shortly after she got it she would take to it and use it for all sorts of things. We're getting there

940746 I'm getting my new phone today. I broke the screen of my old one and they wanted €120 to fix it... It cost me €200 two years ago when I got it. It's insane. And then they complain about consumerism and throwing things that work just fine away. Who's fault is that?

Well it's not the manufacturers, or the repair shops, doing the complaining! They thrive on consumerism.

I’m still here. I just have not been on much lately.
Gee whiz! It’s crazy how expensive phones are. I buy my Apple phone once every 5 years because I refuse to spend $1000 to upgrade every year. That is money I can use for something else instead. I don’t need the brightest And newest. My iPhone 8 was only $600 back then and of course the new ones are $1000. Then it quit working so in January of 2022 I got the iPhone 14. It’s still going just fine. Not doing a new one for this.

941,742. I would love to but time has been an issue lately, plus….((( sigh))))) medical issues have hindered me a lot. I work my businesses and Goto hospitals a lot and that’s been pretty much it.

941740 I got a very nice app today, obsidentify. It allows me to take a picture of a plant and it will tell me what plant it is. Makes planning my garden a lot easier when I see something I might want to use

Ooh I might have to try that. I've had good results with PlantNet though (or Pl@ntNet even).
And Merlin bird id app is brilliant. Although perhaps not so useful for planting things in your garden.

941735 On my day off I built and filled a bookcase, boxed up the remaining books in assorted boxes, washed the bedlinnen, vacuumed the living room and cleaned the litter boxes. I also played games on my switch. It was a productive relaxed day. And the house got done a bit more. Almost at the end.

A busy day off!
Since I don't have much time left in my job, I'm going to need a few days to clean up my office and remove some of my private papers etc

941732 How long till retirement, Kye?
Tangent, I expect Peter to do stuff on his day off as well, so I can't do nothing myself either. Putting my beloved books in a nice spot on the new bookshelf wasn't exactly work either though. I spent over a year without them... :hearts:

I'm retiring at the end of June, Mari. I'm taking the summer off, but I'm sure the bishop has things for me to do once September rolls around

941726 My dad retired last March, which was a relief to all of us as he'd been in and out of sick leave for the last couple of years already and he felt that he had some sort of duty to force himself back to work or something which never helped in him getting completely better.

I've been very conflicted about leaving. I still love my people but more and more I'm losing the passion for the day to day conflicts and responsibilities. Also I've been there 13 years and I feel like they need a new voice and someone with more energy than I have to give

941 733 I get that. I experienced something similar when I decided to leave my teaching job. I'm sure they can always use volunteers if you really can't beat to let go right away. Do you have something you're looking forward to doing after retirement?
