It's tomorrow. We'll be having the non-traditional "leg of lamb" and "roasted veg" with wine. A typical Thanksgiving meal has 4,500 calories and is mashed potatoes, roasted turkey, stuffing, green beans, gravy, biscuits (not the cookies, buttermilk buns generally or dinner rolls), pumpkin pie, some other pies, baked yams with marshmallows melted on top. Pretty much everything I don't like to eat, in large quantities and luke warm. The cook is usually frazzled, shopping the week before is a frantic and crowded. I used to just get take out Chinese food or go out for Dim Sum, because I'm traditional like that.

I probably forgot a half dozen Thanksgiving dishes, cranberry relish for one.

That will be your tomorrow and my today since you posted this on Wednesday evening (your time) and Thursday morning (my time). It gets confusing having difference time zones.

Here's a sample menu from one of my cooking obsessed friends, "Thanksgiving menu: grapefruit negronis, herb roasted nuts, shrimp and cocktail sauce, veggies and feta-dill dip. Smoke-roasted turkey, gravy, roasted cranberry sauce. Grilled beef tenderloin, chimichurri, horseradish sauce. Apple-herb stuffing, Parmesan mashed potatoes, maple-bourbon roasted sweet potatoes. Gruyere-shallot green bean casserole. Zesty corn with roasted poblanos. Arugula-grape-manchego salad. Baked chocolate pudding, pumpkin pie, apple-brown butter tart."

I have supped, and supped well.
Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, salad (with the last of our own home grown tomatoes for the year), sausage stuffing, and gravy. A nice bottle of Mosel. Oh, also coffee and pumpkin PIE!
The only distraction was the overlords flashing their claws before my face accompanied by blood curdling yowls, demanding their share.

Isn't it a bit early to be supping?

It's 10 am in the morning here, some people have Thanksgiving at noon. My dad's wife is like that, she's nuts. It did afford us the chance to get the hell out of there and do something nice later. After washing off the stink of her indoor chain smoking.

Ah trying to eat any kind of poulty with cats around is not fun. My mum usually fixes me up with a handsome plate of leftovers to take home for the boys. Boy, this year

But... it's already Friday in parts of the Eastern Hemisphere! We should all just use UTC and be done with it, once and for all.

It's definitely Friday here. I kind of like different time zones.

You can have an article published in tomorrow's newspaper if you work the timezones well.

Even more impressive is getting one put into yesterday's newspaper!

That's possible too if you hover over New Zealand.

Yes, someone hovering over New Zealand would be newsworthy if they were not in a helicopter or some such.

I got that the wrong way round. It was Jeremy Clarkson being interviewed tapping on his laptop on a plane as it was about to cross the international date line who told us that he was writing an article for yesterday's newspaper.

We had our meal around 3pm, and Mrs Shake left around 10:30pm, after a brief attempt at a nap, before heading out with some friends to hit the early Black Friday sales. They were aiming to be at the stores by 11pm. I stayed up far later than I should have, knowing she'd be out very late, and someone was going to have to be up with the children. I heard her come in, but was too tired to check the clock. It wasn't til much later I found out she'd come in around 5am.
One of her aunts, and my folks came over for the meal. I stopped watching the late football game after it became apparent it was going to be a blowout. It was, with a 49-19 final score. But it was a good weekend, for the most part. We got a lot of cleaning up done yesterday, and I still was able to have a turkey sandwich today, made from the leftovers!
