We are famous for "Stockholm syndrome": "Q: Hey, what's up with Matt? His Dad is on social security, his mom got laid off, his sister's kids get free school lunches, he collects federal financial aid for college, and he only makes minimum wage working at Walmarts. Yet he keeps talking about how we need to cut taxes for the wealthy and quit spending so much on social programs. A: Yeah, he thinks he's going to be a millionaire soon. He's got Economic Stockholm Syndrome." (Urban Dictionary)

My parents are overnighting in Doha on their way home from Europe. Apparently it's 50 C there. And humid!
The sight filled the northern sky; the imensity of it was scarcely conceivable. As if from Heaven itself, great curtains of delicate light hung and trembled. Pale green and rose-pink, and as transparent as the most fragile fabric, and at the bottom edge a profound fiery crimson like the fires of Hell, they swung and shimmered loosely with more grace than the most skillful dancer. ~ Northern Lights
We beat the old 1946 record yesterday of 38.4 degrees c. It's hotter today. More heat tomorrow. Thankfully I have cooldown mats for the cats which they never liked. I'm using them to keep the baby cool now.

The Middle East is ridiculous for summer temperatures. 45° is normal there.
I just checked the Ventusky maps and they show it to be warmer (+3 degrees F) in London that it is in Cairo....and Cairo just passed the heat peak of their day, while London has at least three more hours of potential heat increase.
So...Now we are in the midst of a mild heat wave. It is maxing out at 34 C today and tommorrow and then ease off to high temps in the mid-twenties by Thursday.
This has been ramping up for several days. It actually rained yesterday, but then the sun came out and temperatures went up and it became insufferably muggy. This is rare here.
It was cooler here yesterday, with temps in the low 20's most of the day. It's almost 7 AM right now, and it's 16C but it will be going up to 27 later in the day.
I don't remember the last time it rained, though. The grass in my back yard is like hay.

Very mild today, 16 degrees in our coldest month of the year.

Not where I am, we're too much on the coast. But occasionally snow will fall on Mount Dandenong and Mount Macedon which are on the outskirts of Melbourne - about an hour east or west. Usually happens a couple of times each winter. And in the High Country - the Australian Alps, we get proper snow falls They have ski seasons and everything. Closest one from Melbourne is probably Lake Mountain which is about a two hour drive.

It is a dream. If you lived in Sydney or Brisbane areas, you don't even get a cold winter at all, it's tshirt weather!

It's nice here. Our garden is almost finished (well, the front garden, not the one in the back. That one is still a mess), so I can enjoy the weather there.

We are expecting an icy, wintery blast over the next few days. The coldest days so far this winter.

We had a lot of rain today. We're experiencing a polar ice blast at the moment. I'm going to make a nice, slow cooked beef stew tomorrow to assist in surviving it.

I'm going to need a very long spoon.
