Those long-term low impact kind of ailments are just soooooooooo debilitating ...

So on my last day in Mexico, I was wading in the sea and something bit me on the ass, twice. I have 2 red welts! Our guide said she thought it might have been a baby shark or a barracuda.

945 016 I assume no one will be so heartless as to post the "baby shark" video.

Pat has a chest infection and is feeling very poorly. I took her to the out-of-hours clinic this afternoon and she was given antibiotics. It's likely I have the same infection and I'm supposed to see my GP tomorrow.
The whole row of houses where my daughter lives has a very similar illness and she suspects the postman.

My first day back at work today, and I had a blazing headache. There was a snowstorm with heavy winds and I had to drive home in white-out conditions. Then i got stuck in a snow bank in front of my parking lot. Luckily a couple of young guys with shovels were around and dug me out. All this made my headache a million times worse and by the time I got in the house, I was nauseous and shivering. But I slept for about 3 hours and I feel a bit better now. I hope I'm not getting the flu...

Pat's infection is more serious than we thought and I had to take her to the local hospital at teatime. They're keeping her in overnight.

No real news, she's still in A&E waiting for a bed. I'm going to visit her shortly. I saw my GP myself this morning. I have a pretty nasty viral infection but my chest is clear so my doctor says I can visit but they're not going to keep me in!

945 008 how can they make her wait so long for a bed though? That's ridiculous. I hope she and of course you get better soon! Give her my best when you go to visit please. And a hug if she's amenable to one.

945 007 how can they make her wait so long for a bed though? That's ridiculous. I was under the wrong impression that Pat spent the night on a trolley in A&E because of a shortage of beds. In fact they made up a bed for her soon after I left but didn't transfer her to a regular ward until Monday morning. I've decided to continue relating Pat's visit to the hospital in a separate thread.

945 005 We placed the playpen in the living room filled with balloons to teach the cats to stay out of it, but so far they perceive the balloons as new toys for them...

I have the builders in at my home (as apposed to the Rectory) they have spent the week taking down the old garage and digging a large trench for footings in for a new garage of the same size and in the same place ... but with an upstairs. Next week the drainage - the upstairs will be an ensuite bedroom and wetroom for when I am old.
This feels quite urgent today.

944 996 Shouldn't the downstairs usually be fitted for elderly habitation? Difficulty with navigating stairs and all that jazz?
