An essential role: it really would not do to be caught in a foxhole with a loose button on your battledress ...

Yesterday, I cured the bathroom radiator of rust and gave (part of) it a coat of paint. I also painted the toilet skirting board (lots of bending down) and today I'm a bit stiff.

Gilbert finally seems to be getting better. His eye is almost fully open and he's sneezing a lot less. Plus he's playing with Louie.

Yes, we never like to see helpless animals suffering.
A few days ago, one of my Facebook friends died. Selma was 89 years old and today I went to her funeral. She used to live only a couple of hundred yards down the road although she was more of an acquaintance than a close friend.

944 737 Today she added milk to the mix. A proper celebration of being one month old. She started smiling and laughing too.

Selma had two children and lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren. And the church was almost full with all the relatives and church friends. It was a long service but it went quickly. Pat, as usual, was vergering (organising people) as well as operating the sound desk.
We felt she had a good send off.

One of my colleagues had a baby on Wednesday, they called him Archibaldo Luigi which I think is just the cutest. I like the name Archie.

944 729 The name rather suggests it ... though they could be from South Wales (huge Italian community there) ... 944 727 That can be a dangerous assumption. It could be fashion to give your child a foreign sounding name. We had a period with loads of frysian names being given and English ones and currently nordic names are fashionable.

I think by and large, people still tend to go with names from their own language, though there are always exceptions.
I had a day training last week on asian names, it was very interesting.
