Today, we finally had a decent day in terms of big white puffy clouds drifting by in a serene blue sky. A nice spring day.
I guessed that the ground was still waterlogged and refused to test my own garden's tendency to go rasputitsa.
I have heavy buds in the spring bulb pots (aka pot pots).

Hyacinths in bloom. 'Townies' in the pot pots.
I did some half-hearted weeding. Still a mite on the cool side.

We had another sunny day, making it two in a row. So, I convinced my younger, stronger friend to finish the move of the tub of rhubarb. It is now some three feet closer to the birdbath/bee-beach and more separated from the 'line' of faux terracotta pots present abloom with miniature daffodils. This will assure that those pots will not be shaded by the extensive rhubarb foliage.
Today, it rains. Soft and light.

Yesterday, the sun came back and I actually started the rose pruning.

Lovely! I love the white and yellow ones the most (which is why I had them in my bridal bouquet), but though I've planted some of them, for some reason they just don't grow in my garden.

Nice pix!
Yes, I'm currently in full daff. Actually, the early miniatures are fading, while the late miniatures are just opening.

The katsura tree at the street is leafing out. Soon, as shall not be able to see the neighbor house across the street at the corner.
I have asparagus sprouts!! The sweetpeas are up! Woodland hyacinth are abloom! The roses are completely pruned.
Seeds put down today: Sunflowers (Russian Mammoth), hollyhocks (Indian Spring), sweet basil (Genovese), baby's breath

The katsura is not only leafing out, it seems to be blooming and subsequently shedding catkin schmutz. Craploads on the auto windshield.
The Japanese snowbell along the Ho Chi Minh Trail is leafing out.
The tete-a-tete miniature daffodils are done. The full size daffs are presently in full bloom.
Rhubarb is coming in strong; I shall soon be able to take the obstructing screen off of its tub. (There to keep Murray from using it as his toilet.)
The hanging pot of fuschia was seen to be producing new growth, so it was pruned and rehung above the garden shed porch from a hook at the gable. I'll have to see how it fares there.
The grape still awaits final pruning.

There are five pigeons perched in my plum tree right now, eating all the blossom they can reach. Looks like my plum harvest this year will be minimal.
The nearby apple tree and pear tree tend to be a little later with their blossom: so far, the pigeons are ignoring those trees.

Black spot on the roses! Time to break out the home remedy!
Major slug damage this year, too. I gotta check out my options at the garden store.
