Well I object. South Africa is not one climate zone, and India definitely isn't. All the other zones shown are more specific.

Nevertheless, it's very interesting.

The India and South Africa areas are odd, being so unspecific. But they have cities to give an indication so perhaps that's supposed to help makeit more specific. Perhaps they mean that the whole of South Africa compares to that section of Australia including the different climatic parts within South Africa? So Pretoria is like Sydney and Cape Town is more...well not sure what's in that part of Oz aside from that it's in South Australia. Apparently it's done based on average temperatures and some other classification. So I'm not sure how accurate it is anyway.

I thought the Tasmanian climate was more like the UK but somewhat warmer.

Well, Raz, SF proper is what you are describing. SF proper is a different beast than "the SF Bag area, which includes Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose, and myriad of other suburban communities which enjoy a generally drier and sunnier climate than SF proper. I wohld guess that "the Bay Area" is a good match for what I have heard about the Melbourne region.

But they have cities to give an indication so perhaps that's supposed to help makeit more specific. OK that makes a lot more sense. I originally thought they were just marking the Australian cities and didn't try to read the tiny fuzzy text. ... Do you have a larger version of the image?

I am reading intimations that Theresa May 'is toast' (per The Mail on Sunday) and I cannot help but wonder if she'll be racled and served with either butter, margarine, or both, and jam, marmalade, or both. Anybody here with any inkling?

There's toast and there's toast.
Toast done just right with butter and marmalade (or without marmalade, for unappreciative types) is one thing.
Then there's the toast that stayed in too long, didn't listen to the timer saying it was time to pop up, disregarded the opinions of breakfast customers, and got burnt beyond any hope. This kind of toast just needs to be tossed into the bin. Of course, some people will try to scrape the burnt stuff off and try to serve it. No one will be fooled.

She probably is toast but does that have anything to do with the weather?

Are you suggesting that the Goat may have intended to post in a different thread?
Who makes these rules anyway.

Weather is toasty here. My room has an oscillating fan, which helps, but conditions were such that I was forced to sleep nekkid atop the bed and its duvet because sleeping under the duvet would have been intolerably hot and moist. As I saw it, those were my only options...which I think sucks, because I prefer a lightweight cover. I shall request a flat sheet for tbe queen bed in my cramped adapted 13th century room. (There is a horse racing picture on the wall above the small writing/tea-making table. I suspect this is because this room was/is usually reserved for jockeys.)

OK yes you said so in the other thread.

Wholly squat! It followed me home...
All that toastiness is now here. We experienced 39 degrees Celsius yesterday (101 F), the hottest day of the year. A Sunday, of course.
It's that pestilential British weather, I'm tellin' ya...
The forecasters are predicting highs in the low 20s for the rest of the week...so, better.

I keep waiting for summer to start. But it's always cool and rainy. I already had too much summer, last spring, in Britain. I get home and get blasted with more of the same. Finally, that broke and we're back to near normality. Overcast. Dry, but overcast. I came home from Britain with an accentuated farmer tan. Even early on, in Wales in April and early May, I got blue skies. Blustery, cool, blue skies. It rained on me in Whitehaven, in Falkirk, and along the Wall.

I think recently we've had more rainy days than sunny ones. Our summers are already so short. It's discouraging to have a cool wet summer before the inevitable long freeze.

I'm getting great 'puttering in the garden' weather. Overcast mornings, burning off to sunny afternoons. Watering and weeding; grooming, basically.
