The temperature in Sweden has been above normal all January and February. A bit of snow in December before Christmas. But Christmas was green. Seems like we don't have winter any more, just a very long autumn. Today + 7 C, but very windy. I had to get off my bike sometimes b/c the wind was too strong. Flood in the south of Sweden. But the seal Sally was happy when she could swim into the fish shop.

We are on day four of an extended sunny and warm spell. Temps topping out near 16 C.
I've been working enough in the garden to have thrown out my lower back. So, now, I'm muttering and whining.

The sun came out earlier but then it decided that that was rather too radical of it so it went back in.

Suns out today but it is below freezing. Not that I mind the cold. I rather have it than our summers which are scorching hot.

The doors are ajar and the cats are happy with complete and total access. It's another sunny and warm pseudo-spring day. California skies....again.

It's colder here than it has been lately and we are due heavy snow showers tonight.

We had a rainy day yesterday and the conditions have improved incrementally since.
Currently we have patchy skies and drying conditions. Temperatures are cool, but only light cover is required to work outdoors. A good day for a stroll.

Cold and wet. Got rained on several times the last week. I hate it.

It dawned an overcast and foggy morn. By nine that morning, it was clear and the sky was azure, but it was still cool.
I stumbled out in to the broad daylight about noon and puttered in the garden.
It was a blissful afternoon with the house open and happy cats transiting each and every door they could, multiple times.

Cold rain. 'Tis estimated to be two days duration before the sun returns.

It's typical March weather here --brown dirty snow and a thin layer of hard ice everywhere. But more light and some days above freezing!

I saw snowdrops in the Rectory garden yesterday. I had to look carefully because most of the flowerbed was still covered in snow. But still! Snowdrops!

Yeah...That's actually typical for here. Only, the usual cycle is overcast with light rain, to heavy rain with wind, to hail, and back to light rain. Day in and day out.
This year, we're getting a couple sunny days, followed by a cloudy day, then a couple of rainy days, back to a partly sunny day, and a couple more sunny days.
It's like we inherited the climate of California.

Well, it looks like we're slated for four days of subfreezing overnight temperatures. This will probably be the final freeze before the growing season sets in.
I saw blooming forsythia, a sure sign that rose pruning is indicated.
I've got leaf buds on my katsura and on my lilac. And, lo! I looked closer at the honeysuckle and realized that I'd missed its leafing out because the new leaves are 'bronze' against the brown of last year's woody stems.
While at the grocery, I picked up a discount hydrangea (nothing novel, just light blue) to replace a nuisance shrub out front. It awaits action.

Annnnnnd....
Snow.
Real live snowfall on Friday, March 13.
Dum....di dum dum.
It really is an impressive snowfall, despite the temperature showing at 2 C. So, the ground is warm and there is zero in the way of any accumulation. It's just big, fat, slushy flakes formed higher up in the colder atmosphere falling in to our slightly warmer air mass. Once the cooling air cools the ground down, later precipitation events may actually leave an accumulation. That will be interesting.

In the midst of my nocturnal visit to the loo, I took the opportunity to let Murray out.
Two hours later, Cleo awakened me. She kept walking on me, so I got up and went to let Murray back in. Cleo did not want to go out. I went back to bed.
Then, Murray, after a little attention, decided that I needed to be trampled on. This continued until I finally arose again, to find him sitting in front of the balcony doors. He wanted back out. So, I let him out, with grumbling.
Then, I stumbled in to the kitchen, and finally managed to look out the window in to the pre-dawn to see.....a half inch of accumulated snow.
Who knew my cat would get excited about snow. Murray is one odd fuzzwad.

Our dog loved snow, but the cats do not. Puck did though.
