British version....
Lizzy Two checked out today. From here on out, it's King Chuck Three, I guess. Can he choose another regnal moniker? 'Chuck', as a regnal name, has not been kind to British royalty.

You'd think the Queen and Phil would have thought of that before they named him wouldn't you? . Personally I don't think Charles has got long to go either though. It would be ironic if, after all this waiting, he dropped dead next week.

It would be ironic if, after all this waiting, he dropped dead next week. I guess he had choices....He could've been 'King Phil'...or, 'King George n+1', or 'King Art'. Given his proclivities, I would have guessed the latter, but mebbe he didn't feel he could fill those britches. Chuck Missed The BusAt least there is no shortage of heirs to fall back on at this point. Not like you're ever going to have to go looking for shirt-tail relatives with the right metaphysics. Nowadays, you just have to limit the less mannered of the tainted bloodline access to the hired help and other innocent bystanders.

Really KE? It's all over all the news channels and social media. In fact the first notification I got was Kuningatar Elizabet on kuollut from a Finnish news site.
I quite often hear news first on social media sites ... but I didn't expect EF to be a news-breaking site.

In the States, Kansas City features a special lighting display in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II, as their historic monument shines in red, white and blue. From Jayme's post on Facebook. In Paris, at midnight, the lights of the Eiffel Tower were switched off, a French landmark cast into darkness in honour of a British Queen. Official periods of mourning have been declared in Canada, where the Queen was head of state, and in Brazil, where she was not. On Thursday, Putin was one of the world leaders to offer his condolences to the royal family and wish King Charles III “courage and resilience.” But he will not be attending the Queen's funeral.

Our bishop has just reminded us that we have to change the prayers to say "The King" rather than "The Queen". That feels very weird to me --as if I were praying for the monarchy of a different country, which of course I am. But somehow it feels even more alien for it to be the king. Maybe because Elizabeth was the queen for almost as long as I've been alive.

I quite often hear news first on social media sites ... but I didn't expect EF to be a news-breaking site. Maybe for those who care to watch national news I suppose. I don’t have time for such right now nor do I care too. Pretty much the general here for most people as a monarch really is not kept up with anymore than what some actor did in Hollywood. Eventually I’ll run across someone that wanted to pay attention to every detail (which is pretty rare here) but I probably would not give it much though after that. Unless there is a word or something that peaks my interest. Or something off about it.

Never thought about it really.

I have long thought it would be very smart of him, and well accepted, if he promptly abdicates in favour of William. Do you think he will? As far as Kansas City, no one really pays attention to colors a whole lot on government buildings. Now that it’s 7 hours away from me I would not see it. Red,white, and blue look American patriotic, so you have to really known it was meant for the Queen here. If it was blue and gold we’d have a sense it was Ukrainian because we been hearing about that longer. We’re I live they constantly have some color on government buildings or monuments so it’s really drive by and say pretty color and keep on to go out to whatever it is you are doing for the evening.

Do you think he would listen? I am seeing that the queen doesn’t get involved in politics but Charles does. Could that lead to issues later on?

I am seeing that the queen doesn’t get involved in politics but Charles does. Could that lead to issues later on? Charles has said most definitely he will not get involved with politics when he is king. "It's a different job," he said. People disliked him because he was controversial and had some daft ideas but the general public has a 6-month memory and now he is King and apolitical, they will love him.

Even if the people marched in the streets demanding it he would not abdicate. But yeah, Steve is right, he'll be popular. People forget things

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday about this. She mentioned that Prince Harry’s fallout with the family was because he didn’t want Camilla as Queen consort. Is that correct or is that just hearsay?

I've not heard that but I think it's highly unlikely to have been the main issue, even if it were an issue. I'm sure the main issue must have involved Megan. It's no secret that there was tension between Harry and Camilla but the same tension could be expected between William and Camilla. On the other hand, there was fallout between Harry and William so some else must have been the cause. In any case, we just don't know because the Royal Family isn't saying so it's all speculative.

My question to KE is: Why do you care? It regards the internal dynamics of another family entirely. Another family in another country. It is none of your business at all.
I honestly don't understand this 'royalty' bullshit. Is it like designating some kind of target that makes it acceptable for anyone to engage in any kind of gossip at all, malicious or benign.

WG - well, you could argue that the Royals have become 'celebrities' in recent decades. They are the subject of a lot of gossip and speculation amongst our less, erm, respectable newspapers. Personally I am not keen on the institution at all.

Well WG I truthfully didn’t have that much of an interest and had no clue because very few here talk about it . But the idea sparked my interest into wanting to what will happen next and what better way is asking those who live in that country.
So you determined that it’s none of my business. So you think I should follow what you do. You seem very annoyed that I’m asking these questions. Well buttercup, buckle your seat belt cause here come more questions.

Personally I am not keen on the institution at all. I’m not necessarily either but it seems so many are. I didn’t grow up in that type of country. I do wonder how long it will take before tax revenue will stop flowing their direction. I never really thought much about it. I do know Harry and Megan are pretty annoying here. We roll our eyes at him and his wife’s whacked comments. So what if Camilla is queen consort! Not sure why it’s called consort. I decided to turn news on today while working which I normally do not do because I usually have Bewitched or I dream of Jeannie running in the background. Of course that lasted about 5 minutes. Saw that they were having a funeral fir the Queen. I could not bring myself to actually watching or listening to the whole thing.

Well. Yes I suppose but it would be interesting to see it in today’s world.
Consort wasn’t something I ever had heard until recently.
Another thing. Why this 10 day thing to a funeral? I’m assuming that was a precedent from previous royals funerals.
Is it me or is there a ton of positive press fror Charles? I don’t remember people being this nice to him until now. Not that I really payed much attention to this in the past so I may be off on that statement.
