...by the way, who determines what "non-greasy" means on sunblock? Mine claims to be, but I get that horrible dirty, greasy feeling I used to get when working on car engines! That, and my arms are shiny!

The marketing guys determine it. And for them, truth is a greasy concept.
It's the same as "fresh" "real" "natural" "whole" and all those other abused words on product packaging and names.
It's more a statement of what they wish their product would be like. "We know it makes you feel greasy, but we don't want it to be like that, we want it to be non-greasy, real, and natural, and to help you find parking spaces."
Remember the bank adverts in the 80s/90s? The "action bank", the "listening bank", etc ... in each case taking the particular bank's least successful and most disliked quality and basically flatly denying it.

Ah, but that's what marketing is all about. That, or glossing over the glaringly obvious bad points and magnifying the good points.

It is, however, good beer weather. Amen, Sister! I mean Father. Beer weather, indeed. I foresee a day that includes beer. Am drinking Tribute - a malty ale from the Cornish St Austell Brewery. And watching Djokovic/Murray at Wimbledon ... where they say it's over 40°C/100°F on the court itself.

I think Natural is the worst abused of them. Like putting 0.0001% of fruit in shampoo to make it smell nice or whatever. Uranium and cyanide are natural, but I wouldn't want them in my food! I was having a laugh at the irony of a heavily patriotic advert, featuring the British Lions rugby team. It was sponsored by HSBC (Hong-Kong Shanghai Bank of China)!

It's been 25C or more over the weekend here.
Another Marketing concept that has no meaning is 'best'.

Oh man it's hot. Goodness knows how I'm going to sleep tonight. Badly or not at all I suspect.

It's finally cooling down. I shall sleep, but I will feel crummy in the morning. Can't even open the windows past the security latches or Tinker will get out, which is dangerous with the collar on! I wouldn't mind so much, but my two keep cuddling up to me, which is normally lovely and endearing, but not when I'm already overheating!

My legs were hurting from the cold last week but they're fine now the hot weather has come.

34C now. Humidity makes it feel like wading in a swamp to get the mail. Um...There's a reason for that, isn't there? The District of Columbia was originally a swamp, wasn't it?

I don't remember that...I do remember the bank where I had some accounts really flogging the "customer service" angle. That was when I was having huge 'customer service' problems with them. I was convinced that they took their worst aspect and advertised it as their best feature. I moved my accounts. Several times; each after a major marketing campaign regarding some lie about their 'services'.

The same here. Last week, the temps rose into the 90s F, but it has since dialed back to more reasonable and enjoyable temps in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

It's pretty warm inside during the day, but the nights are still quite doable. It isn't muggy, so that helps a lot.

Quite humid here. I was amazed over the weekend to find that bits of the lawn that had been in shade until midday still had dew on them.

Thanks to the sun I've not been out to cut my grass and it's getting to the point where it will develop intelligence and demand rights and asylum.

As long as it registers at EF and behaves itself.
Actually ... how would intelligent grass be organised? Would each blade require its own login name? Or is a lawn a single entity?

We'll have to have a policy - no blades over six inches.

We'll have to cut them down to size before they can cause any trouble. Weed out the trouble-making elements. Otherwise they'll be sending out runners before we know it.
