Well, it's high enough to stop even Gordon Freeman getting over!

I'm not convinced. Now a moat with sharks with lasers. That would do the trick.

I think we're heading for winter, though. Well, we are where I live.

True enough, but Autumn looks so much prettier. Besides, the previous one still on EF was rather Spring-like so I skipped a season anyway.

Hm, perhaps one of us needs to do a summer one then ... you know, since it got missed.
So Mari, the sig image ... how'd you do that? Did you have to find one to fit?

Bits of it are quite defensible still. I really liked Hadrian's Wall, but I only really saw the prettiest section so my impression of it is probably skewed.

You've seen quite a few bits of Britain that I haven't.

You've seen quite a few bits of Britain that I haven't. I think that's the case with any country and their natives, tangent. We're probably not quite as eager to explore our own country because we feel like we always can do that.

Probably true, but people don't usually get around to actually seeing their own country till they're pensioners. All of a sudden the Dutch pensioners break out their bikes and start making long trips and biking holidays through the country. Preferably in he / she-coats. Very typical.

I am not sure what that means - is it a pair of matching garments?

I was very unimpressed by Hadrian's wall when first I saw it as a child. I could not understand at all how THAT could have kept anyone out. It did not occur to me until later life that I was looking at the ruins and that the actual wall would have been a good deal higher than eighteen inches.

It did not occur to me until later life that I was looking at the ruins and that the actual wall would have been a good deal higher than eighteen inches. The idea wasn't to keep the people out (same with the Great Wall of China). It was to keep the livestock out. The thinking was, if the horses/cattle/sheep/yaks/whatevers can't freely move in, the people that depend on them can't.
