I couldn't do that.

Shake, did you do all that in one go? No, Mrs Shake and I switched off very so often. Though I still did the majority of the drive. We stopped about 2.5 hours in for a gas/bathroom/lunch break, but I think the longest unbroken stretch was around 4 hours or so.

We used to spend long hours in the car since my dad didn't mind driving for six or seven hours straight.

Sounds like a nightmare though I presume that was in a car and not on a motorbike Still I hate long car journeys.. well can't do them at all atm as I get too panicky but never liked them even when I could. Maybe cos I am always a passenger .. is it better to be the driver?

Infinitely better as a driver.

I would so much rather be a passenger than a driver. I'd like to look out the window once in awhile rather than have my eyes always glued to the road.

I hate the feeling of being trapped in a car

It makes me sleepy and I find it comforting. The illusion of progress...

They often see more than the passengers especially when the passengers are burying their heads with fright!

I suspect I'd make a lousy driver

None of my passengers ever bury their heads in fright!
I don't like driving, but among my friends and relations, I'm the only one who has a license. It's maddening.

It's okay, I'm used to it. But as I recall that was a particularly foggy day and I really did have to keep my eyes glued to the road. I just went on Google Maps and noticed that it's about a 6 hour drive from juju's to Jo's. I guess Genie and I will be breaking that up a bit when we come in June...

I wonder how near Juju lives to Mark, our best man? He's somewhere in Wales

If he wants a lift to your place, we could probably accommodate him.

He'd prolly be happy to chip in for petrol as it would save him the train fare

I have to sit down with everyone at some point (figuratively) and make up a rational time line for the trip. I also have to figure out where we need to get accommodations and where we can just sponge off Efers.

It is a very long drive from me to Jo, which is why I've never made it so far. Remind me Kye, where are you meeting Genie?

I'm meeting Genie at the Cardiff railway station in the afternoon on May 31st. We're still open about where to go from there. Juju, of course we want to come and see you. Are you open to putting us up, or should we be looking into hotel options? And the offer still stands for you to join us as we drive around the UK.

We can provide a temporary bed, couch and/or floor with sleeping bag for an overnight stop (providing no more than two sexes are involved). We can also provide transport from Manchester to Cumbria.

Mark is in the Wrexham area. I would prefer to be a passenger as I'd get to see the countryside and stuff. I commented to Mark's mum the other day when I was there that I must have missed a lot of nice scenery as I was having to all but stare at the strip of tarmac in front of me. Sleeping while driving a motorbike is also highly difficult!

That's fantastic, tangent! I'll have rented a car, so transportation is not an issue. And I can guarantee that no more than 2 sexes are involved!
