Everyone has a legal right to a funeral in their local parish church.

That is Interesting I had not known that though I cannot envisage a situation in which a local vicar we'd refuse

Vicars usually feel compassion to the people who are mourning and so I would not expect any vicar to refuse.

Everyone has a legal right to a funeral in their local parish church. Not in germayn if you are not a member of the church.

Sad. That's not how an institute of love and compassion is supposed to act.

I actually developed a new respect for the C of E after my dad's death and funeral. The vicar - who has unfortunately since retired; my dad was his last funeral - was really excellent, compassionate and genuinely caring and I gather very much involved in social issues and campaigning against poverty in the town.

He's a canon, incidentally. What's a canon?

A slightly bigger wig among the clergy. Usually someone is canon-ized if they've done something useful in the diocese and the bishop wants to give them an honour. My friend Joyce is a Canon. If FrG were here, he could explain it better, I'm sure.

He'll be back once Easter is over, won't he?

I think Kaylee meant FrG would be back after Easter, which he will.

Ah is he the one you met? I think that there are two at least who do regular services in that church.

Maybe Genie or Mari would remember.
I feel sad whenever I go past that church now. Not been into it since. I don't have cause to go in there very often anyway - usually when I have visitors who might be interested in old churches, or when Ol was still in primary school for his carol concerts.

After my grandfather's burial, I refused to wear the clothes I'd worn that day. Too many sad memories. My mum was a bit annoyed about it since we'd bought them new for the occasion. She did understand though.

She did understand though. I don't mind wearing the clothes. Somehow, my feelings are more attached to songs I connect with the people who have died.

Mari - I put the tights I'd been wearing on the day of my dad's funeral in a drawer, unwashed. I know I will never wear them again - I never wear tights and they had to be bought specifically, one of a four pack - but somehow I didn't want to just put them through the wash and bung them in an undies drawer with everything else. Dunno why, I know it's silly.

Yeah . I dunno why humans do these things tho. I am never gonna wear them again. They are not gonna bring my dad back. But *shrugs*
