Google says Malta is part of Europe. Not sure if it’s correct.

Who's to say what is correct? Definitions change.

I got myself tested for Covid today. I want to make sure I'm okay for when I visit my daughter in Romouski in 2 weeks. (Plus I had a bit of a sore throat.) They told me to isolate until I get the result in 2-4 days.

Malcolm had a cold recently. But he did not have a fever and mostly a runny nose, so I stopped worrying very soon.

Cheese? Your doctors let you eat cheese? **turns head slightly and squints one eye**

Sure, cheese is fine, Goat. Lots of protein and low carb. Your doctor discourages cheese?

Cheese is fine for diabetes but it is high in saturated fats, which might contribute to high blood pressure. I guess it will depend on your cholesterol level whether your doc discourages it.

Yes...I also have HBP and hyperlipidemia. The full metabolic syndrome. Red meats, butter, and cheese were discouraged, along with egg yolks. Of course, in the twenty plus years since that diagnosis, the providers have jacked around their dietary guidelines more times than I can remember. The whole egg yolks thing is off the table, now, and they seem to be backing away from other warnings. I spent a couple of years grumping about 'having my diet limited to sawdust and dirt." See....the thing is, I have never had any heart problems. You've had the initial heart attack, so I'm surprised they're not waving you off of the high fat cheese. Also, one thing about cheese consumption amongst the elderly is that when combined with too little ingestion of roughage it leads to 'binding'....constipation and accompanying hemarrhoids.

I don't think I eat enough cheese for all that. I have some in my salads and for a snack once in a while. I'm not a cheese connoisseur my any means --mostly I like boring mild cheeses.

In SOuth Africa we've had a large spike in COVID cases the past few weeks. I am really worried, as many people don't really pay attention to it.

Same her. Might seem egocentric, but I'm hoping so much we will still be able to spend the ten days with my parents that we had planned ages ago. We're all looking forward to it so much.

It seemed pretty obvious that cases were gonna increase after the lessening of lockdown. Some people just acted as though it had never happened at all.

Same here. And on the weekend, around 17,000 people demonstrated against face masks and Covid-19 restrictions in Berlin, without masks or distancing.

I've just been looking at the number of new cases in America and comparing them to Australia. - Victoria has 70 new cases per 100k population per week and has declared a 'state of disaster'. Everyone must wear a mask outdoors and in shops and public buildings, travel is restricted to 5km, and people can be fined $20000 if they breach isolation orders.
- Thirty five American states have more than 70 new cases per 100k per week, some as high as 270 new cases per week, and people are carrying on pretty much as normal in many places.
There is a completely different response in the two countries. Masks are not mandatory in America but fines of $200 have been issued in Australia for not wearing masks.

Apart from walking we've barely been out - we don't even go into supermarkets, we mostly do click and collect. If I go in a shop I wear a mask, even though it's not mandatory in Wales.
Up to this weekend, since lockdown started we've physically spent time with a sum total of 8 people (apart from chatting to our neighbours over the fence). My friend over the road (dog walked together), another friend and her son (visit to their garden), my son, another friend (another dog walk) and another couple we know - again a dog walk and then a cuppa in their garden on Saturday.
That final couple have just told us they're getting tested tomorrow as they both feel unwell. She's a nurse so it could be covid.
Great. 😟

Just found out they’re negative, what a relief. We’ve had to put our son off coming but now he can, yay! 😊 This did make me realise how fragile and arbitrary it all is. I was also starting to feel like there’s a bit of victim shaming going on, on social media. I understand there’s a resistance to masks and that some people are behaving irresponsibly. But the underlying assumption from some memes and articles is that everyone who gets Covid somehow deserved it for being irresponsible. We haven’t been to a single pub, cafe, or restaurant. We don’t go to supermarkets and avoid all shops if possible and wear masks if we do. We only physically see a tiny handful of people. And yet we’ve still had a scare, and yet thanks to social media one of the things I felt was guilt and shame.

I'm delighted your neighbours were clear and sorry social media makes you feel that way.
My friend's daughter took a test yesterday because five of her work colleagues had tested positive and I'm slightly anxious because I saw my friend yesterday (socially distanced).

I think this is just going to be how we live now, isn’t it? Going from scare to scare. I think you’ll be fine if you socially distanced. We did with our friends but we were worried because they’d also made us tea, and petted our dog. But as I said, I’m getting a bit fed up with some posts on FB that imply that people who catch it did so because they weren’t acting responsibly.
