So the Obamas have now publicly endorsed Kamala. Great, but I wonder why they took this long? Perhaps his secretary was on holiday.

Yes... And the respective Party leaders in both the Senate and the House took their time, too.
Mari is indeed closest to the truth. These folks, and the Obamas, are all giving enough latitude for other voices to be expressed within the Party. Being 'politic'.
However, Harris and her campaign committee, most likely converts from the preceding Biden campaign functions, have reportedly locked up all the necessary delegates for the nomination. Not only that, one week after the withdrawal of Biden, the Harris campaign has pulled down more than $300 million in donations, of which 2/3 are from new donors this cycle. The polls (which I do not trust) have rather quickly flipped from showing Trump in a narrow lead, to showing Harris with a narrow lead. A lot of bored voters have been galvanized.
I'm impressed. I'm more hopeful and positive about the probable outcome.

As you probably know, leaders from 40 countries in Europe met earlier this month at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire specifically to discuss the situation in Ukraine and in particular how to provide funds for the war. Essentially, they were panicking about the likelihood of Trump becoming president. Although they may now be breathing slightly easier, they cannot cross their fingers and hope that Harris will win. Anything can happen between now and November.

Look at what has happened so far.

So Trump has claimed (in front of black journalists) that Kamala Harris has only just 'turned black', but before that she identified as Indian.
You would think even his most ardent supporters would feel embarrassed by that, but no. I've seen it argued in many comments that she can't be black / African American because her father was...Jamaican. 😆
And these people get a vote, sigh...

Trump is just saying what everyone who follows him want to believe: Harris is not part of their tribe so she should be shunned and dismissed

Yes, Trump actually claimed that. And the nation has largely responded with gasps and laughter.
'Turned black' is bullshit... She has ALWAYS claimed that she had both Indian and Jamaican heritage. Evidently, Trump is dumb enough to not know that Jamaican heritage tends to be 'black'.
And, yes, the attendant 'labeling' by the MAGAts is also characteristically moronic.
And, evidently they have all forgotten about things like 'labradoodles', even with Rand Paul and DJ Vance's kids clearly in the GOP.
It is possible to be both Indian and black. Just like it is entirely possible for Trump to be both a miserable fraud and a despicable sexual predator.
This is what the late night comedians responded with....It does not look all that good for the Trump campaign.
If you get a chance, watch yesterday's 'Daily Show', with Ronny Chiang hosting.

Per his. "she used to be black, and all the sudden she's Indian."
Donald used to be white, but now he's....orange. What happened there? Is he afraid of being white?

I don't know why he is so interested in her colour anyway. Or is it that a WOMAN might be intimidating - and Hilary clearly was to him - but a woman of colour is absolutely intolerable for him?

I don't know why he is so interested in her colour anyway. Or is it that a WOMAN might be intimidating - and Hilary clearly was to him - but a woman of colour is absolutely intolerable for him? He is a bigoted narcissist. Also, a blowhard. He was a slumlord. His family were bigots. On top of that he's a misogynist sexual predator. And, now, finally, a felon. She is a dynamic, middle class upbringing, black woman who has risen through not only attaining attorney status through education and testing, she practiced for years as a prosecuting litigator. For the state. Prosecuting criminals of all kinds. She became the Attorney General of the State of California, the premiere legal officer of the state, directing how the state distributed its resources to prosecute the law. (I believe she was elected, but she could have been appointed.) She did, however, win election to the United States Senate as California's senator, which is no mean feat.
She is polished. She is commanding. She is unafraid and she has a LOT of skilled and talented friends of influence. Trump has been backed into a very uncomfortable corner. It's the 'seasoned courtroom prosecutor' versus 'the convicted felon'. Does that give you a better feel for why Donny the Dumbshit may have soiled himself?

All of this is true but there are a lot of fucking idiots in your country (and in mine too for the record) who will vote for him. I very badly want him to lose. I fear that he might not.
As you don't read other parts of the forum, Humprhy was put to sleep today.

As you don't read other parts of the forum, Humprhy was put to sleep today. Agreed... But things are looking much more upbeat and positive since Joe stepped down. The recent tapping of Walz has again invigorated activists across the country. Yes, I caught the news from Colin's post on FB. Condolences. Is Honey still around?

So...What are the professional betting lines laying out as odds on the race. Not polling, odds.
One of my acquaintances tried to get numbers from some English betting house and they wouldn't tell him the odds or let him bet 'cause he is a Yank.

Mostly evens or with a slight edge to Kamala Harris.
Republic: 1/1 Democratic: 10/11
Hasn't really changed over the past few days.

And Which high profile Republicans have publicly rejected Trump? I am happy about it but are we talking politicians or prominent civilians or what? That is not meant to sound confrontational - I genuinely want to know.
