What does "pucky" mean? Or is it just a random made-up insult?

What does "pucky" mean? Or is it just a random made-up insult? It is an euphemism for 'turd'. And, a steer is a neutered bull, so steer pucky is the shit of a bull without balls.
No, it is not just a 'random made-up insult.' 'Horse pucky' is the same as 'road apples'.

And Which high profile Republicans have publicly rejected Trump? I am happy about it but are we talking politicians or prominent civilians or what? That is not meant to sound confrontational - I genuinely want to know.
Is this sufficient?

Sigh. Or you could just say 'I disagree with you, Tangent, and here is why.' You do you. I'll stick to a format with which I am familiar.

We are now in 'countdown' to election day. The electorate is shifting. I do believe the dragon has been awakened.

I hope so. I am swinging between optimism and pessimism. I won't feel secure till the results are declared and she's in.

Gotta feel a bit jealous of the people stuck on the space station really. If Trump gets in their best bet is to stay there.

Well, tangent, if you really don't care what I think, then you can absent yourself entirely from the thread.
You've already fallen on your face once and you are not adding anything to the discussion.

Gotta feel a bit jealous of the people stuck on the space station really. If Trump gets in their best bet is to stay there. I rather think it will be a bit tiresome after a few months. I'd like a fortnight up there but not any longer. I hope so. I am swinging between optimism and pessimism. I won't feel secure till the results are declared and she's in. Yes, I understand that. You can find positive messages about her on YouTube but the one's I hear are from people who want her to win. So, I'm not all that confident she will win. It's very much 50:50 at the moment (or 48:52).

I just keep thinking about Trump. I did not expect him to win. I don't think that even he expected him to win. Then look what happened.

Well... Tonight's the night. The BIG Debate. As if.
I can't bring myself to watch it. I've made up my mind; watching it serves no purpose whatsoever in my decision-process. I've put my money down.
But, I'm assuming that if you're up in the middle of the freaking night and you get USer broadcasts, it's gonna be schmeared all over US media.
Get a feel for both candidates. Be 'undecided'.

Well it's definitely got comedy value. He just claimed that immigrants were eating people's cats and dogs. Wasn't that what they said about the Chinese back in Western times and then they got horribly discriminated against? That's what Lucky Luke taught me anyway. Maybe trump's read them and was inspired.

Yes, Mari, it was. And all the SE Asian refugees after the fall of Saigon. The whole raft of 'wok your dog' 'jokes' became popular in the 1980s.

I think that Harris definitely won - and I hope I am not just saying that because I am a supporter. I wonder if some of the stuff he said was too much even for his loyal base. And he LIED ... I mean, we know that he does but it was so blatant, even the moderators were calling him on it occasionally.

Here's what a very right-wing Republican friend thought of the debate:

Since the debate, Kamala has gained 5% across an assortment of polls, according to Real Clear Polling. Not dramatic and not enough to guarantee a win but slightly assuring.

I think people watched the debate for pure entertainment. I don't think it has much to do with how they'll actually vote though

I pointedly did NOT watch it. I cannot stand to listen to the orange shithead. It would have just spiked my blood pressure. But, yes, many watched just to see Trump get bested.
Everything I've seen since seems to suggest that Harris played Trump like a cello.
I don't agree with tangent's assessment of the change in numbers. In races like this, just a couple of percent can change the whole outcome. 5% is HUGE. But then, polls are not to be trusted at all.

I agree polls are not to be trusted. Hilary Clinton had a 4% lead, I believe, at some point before the 2016 election and still lost. Biden had a 7% lead in 2020 and that too was whittled down. I would only be happy if she had a 7% lead. (Numbers are from what I remember being reported.)

I don't think that voting is the problem. Counting the votes will be a problem; Donny and his unindicted co-conspirators will make sure of that.

I know celebrities like her have A LOT of influence, but I really don't get it. Why don't they care if their celeb doesn't do it for them? They have brains and presumably they're also taught about democracy and their ability to influence it with their votes, so why would you need a celebrity to spur you into a certain vote? Do you guys have a questionnaire site which will ask you for your opinion on several issues and then shows you a graph comparing your answers to those of the candidates? We have that here. Very useful for determining which party comes closest to how you'd govern the country.
