I honestly don't think she'd have noticed I was there or not when Mr Tennant was present!

Hahahaha, oh well, who can blame her? Though he is married, so that should have been assurance for you.

She was seriously obsessed with him, but in that way where, when I suggested going to the stage door after, she just couldn't face actually meeting or interacting with him. I think they call it "a stalker"! Also, he was not married at that time.

Ah well, if she could not face him, I still don't think you'd have to worry too much about them eloping.

Yes, he did! Though I never knew that until a couple of weeks ago when I watched the announcement of the new Doctor. Am still disappointed on that score by the way.

Perhaps, but I would have liked to see them make a bolder choice and go for someone other than a white male for the part. But for all I know he is brilliant at it. I'll wait and see.

I don't like it when they make choices just to be "bold". If you want to see something different, watch something else!

I don't like it when they make choices just to be "bold". If you want to see something different, watch something else! I never said that they should make a bold choice for the sake of it, but I thought this choice was exceptionally safe. He looks exactly like all those old doctors. Matt was a bolder choice in that respect. From what I understand there really wasn't much of an auditioning going on, this one was asked based on what the directors have seen of him in other things. Then how do you know someone else wouldn't have done a better job? Anyway, he might be brilliant, we'll see.

They are, in the end, making a TV programme and want ratings, not to make a historical statement (ironically, as it's about time travel). If they have someone they think is good for the part, they'll use them, rather than risk it. Matt Smith was a bolder choice and there has been a lot of people not particularly fussed with his portrayal, which may be a part of the decision not to go too far off of what has proven to work for the character. Either way, I think that guy off the BT adverts would have made the ratings drop like one of their Internet connections.

According to an eight year old mentioned in a letter to a magazine, if they had a woman playing the Doctor, they would have to change the title of the programme to "Nurse Who".

Wow. There's some serious societal and parenting fail for this day and age right there.

I always used to think they were just male and female terms... never thought of it being about qualifications.
Apparently the word comedienne is now frowned on. Haven't people got bigger issues to be concerned over?

Why have a separate term for a female than a male? Doctorette?

I must admit Nurse Who sounds more like a Carry On film.

Society as a whole.
Or the Daily Mail, for some issues.

I will continue to call a funny lady a comedienne and I don't care a toss what 'society' thinks. There are a few other things as well which I won't mention here.

Well, in Dutch a teacher is called 'docent'. Then someone decided there should be a female version too, so women teachers became 'docente'. I don't like the term and always refer to myself as 'docent' as most everyone does by the way.
