943 220 Just make sure you get proper manufacturer-approved cartilage. Alternatives could void your warranty. Maybe I'll go down to Boots and see what they've got. ETA: Boots did not have the right make of cartilage. They did sell Glucosamine, which is recommended for joint pain but I decided to stick with Ibuprofen.

943 219 I hear you, tangent --I've been dealing with pain in my left wrist since September when I somehow wrenched the tendons helping my daughter put together some furniture from Ikea.

Ikea furniture is seriously heavy when fully constructed ... I helped one of the young parishioners assemble a pair of wardrobes for her new appartment just before Christmas, there was some seriously heavy lifting involved.

It was a couch and indeed there were some heavy pieces.

943 216 I've been dealing with pain in my left wrist since September when I somehow wrenched the tendons helping my daughter put together some furniture from Ikea. Yes, that's tough. I've discovered that damage to the hand or wrist usually takes two years to mend. I trapped my left thumb in a car door just over two years ago, and sure enough it didn't heal until last Christmas. I suppose it depends on how bad it is. I hope yours doesn't take that long.

Thanks, tangent. It's already much better than it was, although I still use my wrist brace from time to time. At least I can eat and brush my hair without pain!

Meanwhile I have a day not at work, and logically I got enough sleep but it doesn't feel like I did.
At least I didn't have to feed or change anyone at 3am.

943 212 I had a restless sleep because I was too hot under my winter duvet. I changed it because my summer duvet was too cold and I couldn't sleep.

The plumber is making his fourth visit to mend our boiler at lunchtime today. He would have been here two weeks ago if (a) he had all the parts, and (b) his wife hadn't just had a baby girl.

I'd just turn down the heat at night, but I don't want my dog to be cold.

Oh indeed! But Liam actually has his own fleece to keep him warm and I'm sure he's actually been fine with a cooler night temperature.

I have a pair of duvets with velcro corners, the plan being that one uses both together in the winter, the two-thirds thickness in the spring and autumn and the one-third thinckness in the summer. In practice however, the house is so warm that I only ever use the thinner one of the two ... and often not even that in the summer! The principle is good though .. ... ....

943 203 I have an extra sleeping bag over my summer duvet for those in between temps. Similarly, I have a sleeping bag just for use in Winter.

943 202 We have a duvet which consists of a thin and a thick layer, held together by buttons. In summer we use the thin layer, but now we are using both. Our little guy has been refusing to weat his sleeping bag since October and uses a duvet and I do sometimes worry he may throw it off and get too cold.

943 201 We've added a blanket to the sleeping arrangements of both girls because the temps dropped to 13 degrees at night in their rooms. They both have thick winter sleeping bags, but we thought that an extra blanket is no luxury in these temperatures. It's a bit scary though since they both move around so much. Especially the baby: wouldn't want her to end up with her head under the blanket.

943 199 ... because the temps dropped to 13 degrees at night in their rooms. 13 degrees is quite cold. Down in our hall the temperature has been dropping to 15°C at night but in the bedroom it's probably a lot colder. We have our thermostat set to switch on the heating if it drops to 12°C in the hall.

943 195 Our rental contract says one should try not to let the temperature get below 17 °C to avoid mold. We have to dry the laundry in our flat (no spa e for a tumble dryer) and so I do worry about that. In the study it can still sometimes be around 16 in the early morning.

It's so ironic that here where the outside temperature sometimes gets to -30 and regularly is in the -20's, we keep our houses toasty warm.

I have the heating set to 18 all the time at the moment and boost it with the log burner in the sitting room, that lifts the temp. at the front nicely. Getting through the logs a bit quickly at the moment!
